The Cricket
For the discerning cart buyer!!
Now officially the "buzz" in North America! We are proud to offer our full C.D.E. ready, easy entry cart. We build ALL our carts to FIT the intended horse and driver, with correct, comfortable seating and leg room for the driver. All of our carts have built in safety elements, such as a dash, a fully closed in basket, and wheel/brush guards, AND they are truly easy entry. The Cricket features steel spoke wheels with solid rubber tires. It has a marathon style shaft base - wider at the base than most carts, and we use aluminum bar for the curved shaft ends. It also features our "simplex" suspension for a very nice ride. Upgrade to the state of the art independent suspension for an additional $400. As with all of our vehicles, the single tree is placed for proper line of draft for breast plate harness, and we offer the option of lowering it for collar and hame as well. We use top grade foam, and marine grade vinyl on the seat. Seat can be moved, and shafts are adjustable for height as well.
SO WHAT MAKES A SAFE CART?????
Our carts are designed for optimum safety and function. First and foremost, they are built to FIT the horse!! NO trip bars - as they not only make the cart more difficult to get into...but also make it extremely unsafe to, if even possible to, get out of in a "situation". The closed in basket means no feet sliding off floor pan into moving wheel spokes! Proper seating position allows a driver to actually use their body if and when needed. Raised knees or stretched out legs are non optimum for driver ability. Wheel/brush guards mean there will be no risk of getting a wheel caught on anything. The wider shaft base increases not only the horses freedom of movement, but we have found across the board, that they more confident in them, and in a panic turn, the wide shaft base very much helps keep the cart, and/or horse both from flipping, and they are also corner braced so they will not "fold up" in a hard turn. We deem placement of the singletree to also be pretty important, as if you work a horse in a breast plate harness, hooking to a LOW singletree...the down pressure on the neck strap is huge, and this hurts, and minimally, sours horses. This is not what would be generally viewed as a "beginner" or "training" cart, but our view is when you are starting out with either a green driver, or a green horse...it is pretty important that the cart be able to increase safety, and lend itself to building confidence in both horse and driver, and that is at the root of our designs. Kelly Miller being a knowledgeable, and experienced driver, and having a deep understanding of suspension has proved to be a winning combination
